| Care of your lapis | Lapis lazuli is an aggregate of mainly lazurite, calcite and pyrite. It is sensitive to pressure, heat, household cleaning products and abrasive materials. It should not be exposed to direct sunlight for long periods of time as the color of the stone may fade. Do not submerge in water, as it is porous and if it breaks down, it could release sulfuric acid or arsenic, which are skin irritants and can be toxic to pets or small children. Clean with running lukewarm soapy water. Wipe dry with a soft cloth and store in a dry, safe place, away from pets & children, and in a separate bag or box that does not allow the stone to be scratched by other pieces of jewelry.
